StreetEasy’s new services for homeowners take the stress out of the selling process, equipping them with data and expertise as peak home shopping season approaches

NEW YORK, March 21, 2023 – StreetEasy®, the Zillow brand built for NYC, is launching a new suite of tools and services to help homeowners navigate the complexities of selling. Rolling out ahead of the spring home shopping season, the StreetEasy Concierge℠ service along with tools including the Owner Dashboard and Listing Performance Dashboard deliver an objective, data-driven approach to selling a home in NYC.

A new StreetEasy survey conducted by The Harris Poll found that recent NYC sellers are more likely to be stressed about putting their home on the market (79%) than they are about other life events such as planning a wedding (76%), finding a job (70%) and even getting a root canal (65%). What’s toughest about selling? According to the survey, the most common challenges for recent NYC sellers include the negotiation process (45%), figuring out their home’s value (43%) and finding a listing agent they trust (42%).[1]

StreetEasy’s new seller tools are designed to help NYC homeowners tackle each of these challenges, with more features being added later this spring:

  • The StreetEasy Concierge[2] is a high-touch service in which homeowners can connect with a dedicated guide to help them understand the NYC selling landscape and StreetEasy’s tools for selling, while using data to match them with an agent who has a track record of success selling similar homes.
  • The Owner Dashboard is a centralized hub for homeowners to easily assess the value of their home, calculate NYC-specific selling costs and see local market trends to help them decide when to sell and for how much.
  • The Listing Performance Dashboard allows sellers with a listing on StreetEasy to view real-time data on their listing’s performance along with market comparables, to help inform their selling strategy in partnership with an agent.

“Selling a home is unlike selling any other asset; it’s complicated, personal and emotional,” said Nick Smith-George, StreetEasy’s senior director of growth strategy and operations. “Alongside guidance from an expert, there’s an opportunity for more data-driven decision making in the process to give sellers the confidence they need in this market. These new offerings serve as an important step for StreetEasy to support all New Yorkers in their journey to get into a new home, whether they’re buying, selling or renting.”

Core to StreetEasy’s new offerings and unique in the market, the Concierge service leverages StreetEasy’s expansive data to match sellers with the right agent for their property to help them sell for more money in less time. On average, top StreetEasy Experts sell homes 1+ month faster than the market and have a sale-to-list price ratio that is around 14% better than the market.[3]

“Choosing the right agent is one of the most important decisions for a seller to make,” said Carlo Romero, StreetEasy Concierge. “Many sellers rely on the recommendation of a friend or family member to find an agent but oftentimes, they don’t have the specific expertise that the seller needs. It’s rewarding to put our data to work and help connect sellers with the very best agent for them to sell their home in this competitive market.”

In fact, when asked about their biggest regrets, 1 in 4 recent NYC sellers regretted listing their home at an asking price lower than they needed to, and nearly 1 in 5 (19%) regretted working with an agent they didn’t like.

These new offerings reinforce StreetEasy’s continued focus on building solutions to make the home buying and selling process more seamless for New Yorkers and their agents. For listing agents, this expansion will help them gain new connections to motivated sellers over time and empower them with real-time data to better support their clients.

StreetEasy’s other homeowner and seller offerings include For Sale by Owner tools, Featured Listings and a Data Dashboard to explore data like the sale price to list price ratio and median days on market in their neighborhood. NYC homeowners thinking about selling should also consider new StreetEasy data on the best times to list for the highest price and shortest time on market, along with the NYC neighborhoods where sellers have an upper hand.
