Donald Trump

A sedately decorated penthouse decked out in white and neutral tones? Owned by Donald Trump? Talk about an oxymoronic clash of style between his penthouse unit at 502 Park Avenue and the GOP presidential candidate who has turned the national political debate into a three-ring circus.

Alas, the news is true: Trump’s sprawling 5-bedroom, 7-bathroom unit on the top floor of yet another NYC building that bears his name (Trump Park Avenue) has been sold. Listed for $24 million, the Wall Street Journal confirms that Le Donald — who never lived in the 6,192-square-foot condo — has accepted $21 million for the unit in the luxury condo building.

Some highlights of the place include solid oak floors, marble bathrooms, chef’s kitchen, a great room with sublime NYC views and separate wing with a library and media room. The concierge building offers residents even more amenities, including 24-hour doorman, daily maid and laundry service and fitness center.

Listing agent Michelle E. Griffith, of Trump International Realty, told the WSJ that Trump had been the only owner of the 24th floor unit in the 32-story tower but never lived there. The unit was priced at $35 million in 2013 but saw a series of listing price drops down to $28 million and $24.995 million. Griffith told the WSJ that the sizzling NYC real estate market prompted Trump to cash out on this unit in the former Delmonico Hotel building he bought in 2001 for $115 million, then converted into luxury condos.

These days, Trump has been mixing a little — or a lot — of politics into his portfolio. The Republican candidate for president in the 2016 election has been recreating how to run a presidential primary by torching issues and rivals with incendiary remarks that, currently, have him trailing only Jeb Bush among GOP hopefuls.
