The Price: $425,000

The median asking price for a home on the Upper East Side was $1.8 million this March, according to the StreetEasy Data Dashboard. That means our Deal of the Week is priced at less than a quarter of the median asking price for the neighborhood!

Buyers who put down the 20% minimum down payment of $85,000 can expect to see monthly payments of $3,471. This includes a mortgage payment of $2,313 and a maintenance fee of $1,158. There is also a $55 monthly payment for reserve fund through December 2025. But the total monthly payment is still below the median asking rent for the neighborhood, which sat at $3,975 this March.

Why You’ll Love It…

This unit is outfitted in hardwood floors and exposed brick for a classic and timeless look. The exposed brick wall in the living room features a decorative fireplace with built-in open shelving on one side — the perfect space for books, games, and knick-knacks. Not only does the living area feature two large windows, but also two closets, and it’s spacious enough for furniture as well as a desk.

A large breakfast bar helps separate the living area from the kitchen, and offers seating plus space to prep food. It’s also flanked on one side by a vertical wooden beam. In the kitchen you’ll find a dishwasher, full-size oven and fridge, and ample overhead and under-counter cabinetry. The apartment’s piece-de-resistance, the stacked washer and dryer, are tucked away in a closet next to the refrigerator. No more going up and down the stairs — or the street — to get your laundry done!

You’ll get even more natural light beyond the living room, as both the bedroom and bathroom have windows. Speaking of the bathroom, you can enjoy a spa-like experience in the modern stall shower with a glass door and sleek black tile. A spacious vanity offers some storage, too.

This home comes with its own private storage unit, and the building includes both a live-in super and virtual doorman intercom system. Co-purchasing, parents buying, gifting, and subletting are allowed. Thanks to a recent exterior and interior renovation, the hallways and red brick facade have been updated. The building is near tons of great eateries and bars on First and Second Avenues like Bombay Chowk, Mission Ceviche, and Bohemian Spirit. Transit is easy with the Q and 6 trains stopping about a quarter-mile away.

…And Why You Might Not

Unfortunately, pets are not permitted in the building, and pied-à-terres are not allowed. Though it has lots of pre-war charm, the 1910-constructed building does not have an elevator. Lastly, there’s no closet in the bedroom, so you’ll have to get creative when it comes to storage in this room. Still, for such a great price and location, this unit is worth checking out!
