williamsburg 1-bedroom

Our Rental of the Week boasts a stylish kitchen and a location near both the East River and McCarren Park.

You already know Williamsburg is a hot neighborhood. It’s especially appealing now, with the L-pocalypse averted (L-train repair work is officially done!) and the area’s waterfront and green spaces in high demand by quarantined New Yorkers. Our Rental of the Week is a Williamsburg 1-bedroom that’s an oasis for stir-crazy renters craving a little fresh air, with a shared roof deck above, the river a block away, and parks all around. Check out the video walkthrough and 3D tour on the listing, and read on for more.

Address: 68 N. Eighth St. #3LR

Price: $2,500

Size: 1-bedroom

Neighborhood: Williamsburg

Best feature: This Williamsburg 1-bedroom is perfectly located within the neighborhood. It’s got the river, ferry landing, and waterfront parks a block to the east, and sprawling McCarren Park just a few blocks to the west. It’s also quick walking distance to fun neighborhood fixtures like Brooklyn Brewery and the William Vale, not to mention the L train at Bedford Avenue. The view from the shared roof deck is stunning.

And beyond that, it’s really a nice apartment! The stylish kitchen has custom cabinets, stainless appliances (including a dishwasher), and a breakfast bar for dining. There are hardwood floors throughout, big windows in both the living room and the bedroom, and sleek, modern tile and fixtures in the bathroom.

Why it’s a deal: This apartment is right on target for the median rental price of a 1-bedroom in Brooklyn, which is $2,498. But for this neighborhood, it’s a steal: The median rent for a Williamsburg 1-bedroom is $3,258, which puts our Rental of the Week more than $750 per month below average for the area.

Biggest drawback: The main living area’s layout might be a bit awkward. The fridge is located a little ways away from the rest of the kitchen. This means to get your food from there to the sink or stove, you have to walk it past the bathroom. And the bathroom wall is angled to allow for a wider pathway, which creates a tight squeeze by the sink for washing your hands. The building also has no elevator, so there will be a couple flights of stairs to climb.
