About

1 East End Avenue, built in 1929 and designed by Pleasants Pennington and Albert W. Lewis, is one of the preeminent cooperatives in the Gracie Square/East End Avenue neighborhood.

After excavation began in August of 1928, the building became an immediate success story. Real estate tycoons, executives from financial institutions, and insurance moguls rushed to stake their claim on some of the best river views the Upper East Side had ever offered.
