In the mid 1920’s George Stern bought several adjacent brownstones on the north side of 72nd Street between Lexington and Park Avenue, which he razed in order to build this distinguished 15 story Co-op at no. 117 E 72nd. Construction completed in 1928, Mr. Stern promptly moved to new his home on the 3rd floor selling the balance of residences as “build to suit” apartments to wealthy New Yorkers.
