About

196 Sixth Avenue / Avenue of the Americas is a boutique co-op in SoHo. The building was designed in 1893 by the official architect of the NYPD Sgt. Nathaniel Bush and built by builders John H. & Richard H. Deeves to serve as the 10th Precinct Police Station. 196 Sixth Avenue’s original address was 24-26 MacDougal Street, prior to the expansion of Sixth Avenue downtown. It sits behind a small plaza park, named after Father Richard Fagan. The building was converted into a co-op in 1984, and was originally comprised of 20 units on 9 floors.
