From prolific architects Sugarman & Berger who designed the New Yorker Hotel and contributed to One Fifth Avenue, the Virginia Apartments were completed in 1928, replacing three townhouses which held the New York Training School for Deaconesses. The lobby welcomes you in with original Art Deco period details including patterned terrazzo floors, glass sconces, hand painted reliefs and a fireplace that now houses an aquarium. The bright and airy hallways are accessed by two elevators, two internal staircases and a third fire staircase.
