This 1870s 4-floor brownstone townhouse is likely, at 7,200 sq. ft., the most spacious 2-family house in Park Slope. About 1912 this building became the new location of the historic Swedish American Athletic Club with a 90 ft. long ball room and a bowling alley. It was a neighborhood locus of athletics, socializing and entertainment until about 1970, when the club folded and its new prior owners converted it into a fabulous upper triplex plus street level 3-BR rental unit, Its spectacular interiors and roof garden were featured in both the NY Times home section and on TV Ch 2 Eyewitness News in 1980. They also were highlights of two of the Annual Park Slope House Tours, in 1980 and again in 1994. A new roof has recently replaced an earlier roof garden, now with provision for steel beams to support a future deck and roof garden.
