The Lancaster is a Pre-War building located at 39 East 10th st. It was built in the mid-1880s and converted into a Co-op in 1981.

The building was built by James Renwick Jr. who is also the designer for Grace Church and St Patrick Cathedral, The Smithsonian Institution Building and The Smithsonian’s Renwick Gallery, in Washington, DC.
