About
The Dietz Lantern building was built in 1887 by R. W. Tieffenberg as a seven-story building for the R.E. Dietz Company lantern factory. There was a fire in 1897 and it was rebuilt by William J. Fryer and increased to nine stories. The footprint is 75 feet of frontage on Greenwich Street and 125 feet on Laight Street. The Romanesque Revival design of the original building was maintained. In 1996 the building was converted to 28 Luxury condominiums with a full-time doorman and an underground garage.
