About
Owned by Charles F. Rogers, it was designed by architects Harde & Short and completed in 1908 as 777 Madison Ave. (The entrance was moved to 45 E. 66th in 1929). The mid-rise, 10-story, pre-war, unusual perpendicular red and white gothic building has a center court for light and features 4 windows on a distinctive rounded corner tower. Originally it had a fence around it, multi-paned windows with white terra-cotta frames, many decorative features on the facade, two 12 and 13-room apartments per floor, and a full staff including an elevator man.
