About
The Gunther Building is a cast iron building located on the corner of Broome Street and Greene Street. It was designed in the 1870’s by architect Griffith Thomas for a prominent New York furrier, William Gunther, and converted into a cooperative in 1971. The co-op consists of ten residential units, two commercial rental units, residential entrances on both Broome and Greene Street, and a beautifully landscaped roof deck. The rental income from the commercial tenants allows the Gunther Building’s shareholders to pay no monthly maintenance fees.
