About

489 Broome Street is a landmark cast-iron building in the heart of the SoHo Cast Iron Historic District, located on the south side of Broome Street between Wooster Street and West Broadway. Designed in 1873 by architect J. Morgan Slade, the five-story structure is a striking example of Gilded Age “store-and-loft” architecture, defined by its classical Doric façade, rhythmic iron columns, and ornate detailing that helped establish SoHo as one of the most architecturally distinctive neighborhoods in New York City.
