About

Built in 1846 with an addition in 1860, 65 Middagh was built as Brooklyn’s first Public School. By the end of the 19th century, the building could not expand anymore and the Board of Education built a larger school – PS 8 around the corner on Hicks St. In 1975 the building was sold to Joseph Maggio a long time Brooklyn Heights resident, who renovated the historic school house into loft-style apartments and sold them as Coops around 1977. There is also a parking lot to the right of the building that belongs to the Coop as well.
