Built in 1908, the Chelsea Mercantile was a “woolens building” where fabric was manufactured. Later becoming the Veterans Administration Building, post-World War II, it is now the beautiful and grand prestigious condominium “The Chelsea Mercantile.”

The original buildings, four in total, make up the Mercantile structure on Seventh Avenue, 24th and 25th Street. These buildings originally housed a clothing mail-order house for women and men called The National Cloak and Suit Company. Known simply as “The National,” it was the of its day for clothes. Customers would mail in order forms, the garments were then produced by huge on-site sewing machines, packaged on another floor and then shipped out at the loading dock – all under one roof. Upon entering the building, you will note the dramatic early 20th century limestone facade and beautifully appointed Moroccan tile underneath the rotunda.

The prewar building boasts a grand lobby with engaging rich colors and timely mosaic décor in the terrazzo flooring.

Full-time doorman, concierge, valet service for cleaning, storage, beautiful gym, childrens’ playroom and 10,000 sf landscaped roof deck with views of this magnificent city all the way down to the Statue of Liberty!

A public parking garage that can be accessed from within the lobby.

Whole Foods Supermarket is right downstairs in the ground level and is open from 8 am to 11 pm 7 days a week.

The building is meticulously maintained and managed by Rose Associates.

Transportation is right downstairs as the M20 Seventh Avenue bus stops right in front of the building. You are also 1 block from the M23 crosstown bus and the 1/9 train as well. The E/C trains are one block west to 8th Avenue and the F/V train are one block east to 6th Avenue.

A 10-minute walk will take you to the West Chelsea Galleries and Chelsea Piers.
