About
Building: Munitions Building at 60 Warren Street in Tribeca
The Munitions Building at 60 Warren Street was once an 1860s warehouse that once stored munitions for the Remington Arms Company and later, housed champagne bottles for G.H. Mumm Company according to a New York Times article in 1999.
The building is constructed of red brick with ornate detailing in the Italianate style during a period when buildings of similar construction and size were being built, according to architectural historian Andrew Dolkart, “five stories [were] typical because these buildings [predated] the elevator.
