Built in 1895 out of the necessity to alleviate overcrowding at PS 9 (now PS340) across the street, Public School 9 Annex is located at the corner of Vanderbilt Avenue and was designed by James W. Naughton and is a designated New York City landmark that resides in the Prospect Heights Historic District. Designed in the Romanesque Revival style this 100 ft x 110 ft building, made of brick, sandstone and terra cotta also has neo-classical elements.
