The Bar Building, a “Class B+” office building located at 36 West 44th street, was built in 1922 from a design by one of the era’s most prominent commercial architects, Severance and Van Alen. Creators of such New York City landmarks as the Manhattan Trust Building and the iconic Chrysler Building, Severance and Van Alen employed their signature Art Deco style in the design of 36 West 44th Street.
