Amanda Brainerd

Amanda has sold residential property totaling nearly $1,000,000,000 for her clients since her start in the business in 2001. She is recognized among her peers as one of the most professional, creative and thoughtful agents in the industry. Previously with Warburg Realty Partnership, Amanda joined Brown Harris Stevens in 2013 with steadfast adherence to her professional philosophy: to always take the high road, to move forward and keep her eye on the ball. Amanda worked as an architect for 10 years before her transition to real estate. As an architect, listening to what a client wants is not only imperative; it is the core of the job. It is similar in real estate sales. Amanda asks her clients what they want, and it is her job to translate that into either selling or finding them a home. Amanda graduated magna cum laude from Harvard with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, and earned her Master of Architecture degree from Columbia. A born and bred New Yorker, Amanda grew up on the Upper East Side and is an alumna of the Nightingale-Bamford School. She and her husband Chip grew up four blocks from each other on Park Avenue in Carnegie Hill, and reside there now, with their three children. Amanda speaks French, German and Italian and outside of work, regularly attends the Metropolitan and New York City operas, the New York Philharmonic, and grows organic vegetables in Connecticut. Her debut novel, Age of Consent, was published by Viking in 2020.
