Hank Orenstein

Hank Orenstein is New York City’s premiere Residential Real Estate Broker, Licensed NYC Tour Guide and urban historian. During his 19 years as a real estate professional, he has completed close to 300 successful sales and rental transactions. He has led over 2,000 walking and vehicle tours and likely has the largest repertoire of any professional guide with expertise in over 80 neighborhoods. The Wall Street Journal has called Hank a “genius” for combining his two passions: real estate and the touring of neighborhoods. Hank founded Owning New York LLC (ONY) in 2015, NYC’s first company to offer real estate, history and lifestyle tours.

Hank utilizes his vast knowledge of NYC to help home buyers find the right home in the right neighborhood, and to also add marketing punch when selling property. Hank is based at the prestigious Corcoran Group Real Estate in the heart of Manhattan. Hank loves real estate because of his passion for NYC and the great diversity of people he gets to work with, ranging from CEO’s and banking and finance executives, to scientists, tech professionals, United Nations staff, educators, attorneys, retirees and people in the arts and entertainment industries.

An award-winning broker, Hank covers Manhattan top to bottom, a good portion of Brooklyn, Western Queens, and Riverdale in The Bronx. Hank also leads the successful Meetup group “Exploring NYC History & Neighborhoods” with over 10,,000 members. He also leads tours annually for the Municipal Art Society and the Broadway Mall Association., a non-profit group that helps to maintain the linear park that runs along Broadway from 72nd to 168th Street.

With an eclectic background that includes a Master’s Degree in Social Work and a B.A in English, Hank highly values integrity, teamwork and transparency in his work with his clients, whether they be home buyers, sellers, tenants, property owners or investors. He has specialized training in negotiating and conflict resolution and is skilled in preventing and resolving problems. A believer in giving back to the community, Hank supports numerous charities. He has worked as Homeless Shelter Director; advocate for abused and neglected children; fine art photographer; and has been a faculty member of Columbia University, Fordham, New School and the City University of New York. Hank has been a cooperative apartment owner for 30 years, served on his board for 12 years and was President for three years.
