I have been a real estate broker since 1987. I have also been a mortgage broker since 1990. Before working in real estate i worked as a systems engineer. Having a technical background can be very helpful at times when investing in real estate. I have done substantial real estate investing with my attorney partner. Besides working in Manhattan, I also do work in the Hamptons where my vacation home is. Becoming a mortgage broker proved very helpful in investing; online it gave me access to all the avenues of credit. I now have relationships with a number of lenders which have niche products besides the conventional ones for various different types of properties.
