James Curtis joins Brown Harris Stevens after having worked many years as an attorney. His transactional experience in real estate, the entertainment industry, and the information technology sector has taught him a great deal about professionalism, negotiations and problem solving. James believes in a good flow of communication between the brokers, and each side's respective buyer or seller. Effective negotiations lead to closed deals, where a solution creates a win-win situation for the parties. James works with John Burger, a top producing broker at Brown Harris Stevens.

James believes that listening to his clients is essential in order to best determine their needs. His understanding of the Manhattan real estate market and drive to stay abreast of its latest developments mean that he can offer his clients options that best address their criteria. With a passion for architecture and design, James has had experience in many residential remodeling and design projects in addition to landscape design. Oftentimes, he helps clients envision the potential in a space, with an appreciation as to its value in the market.

James holds a BA from Vassar College, and a JD from Boston University School of Law. He attended Sotheby's Institute, where he learned about the fine and decorative arts, and later worked at the auction house. He is an adjunct professor at St. John's University School of Law, where he teaches Internet Law. In addition, he is actively involved in the Lehman Loeb Art Center at Vassar College.

James is an avid skier and travels annually to Colorado. In the summers, he vacations on Martha's Vineyard, where he enjoys gardening and cooking. He is conversant in French and modern Greek.

He has lived on the Upper East Side for the past 14 years, where he sits on the board of his cooperative, and is married with two children.
