After college and graduate work, Mr. Venekamp married, had three children (all now grown), but in time grew disenchanted with corporate life. Conversely, he became intrigued by architecture and design and discovered that a career move into real estate would satisfy his professional needs.

He is an associate of the Museum of Arts and Design and serves on the Board of his cooperative and on other non-profit organizations.
