Tyson is a father of two teenagers, both of whom attended Brooklyn public schools, and a 28-year New York City resident. He spent years touring the country with his own band and performing with a wide range of notable artists. He continues to perform and record today and can often be found playing the piano in venues in and around New York City.

He holds a degree from the University of Vermont, where he studied Anthropology and English, and worked as a litigation paralegal and case manager, first at Dewey Ballantine LLP and later at Simpson, Thacher & Bartlett LLP.
