Michael Hamberger

Michael has been involved in Real Estate for 40 years as a homeowner, investor, landlord and sales agent. He has bought and sold houses, managed property and recently was involved in the sale of some family owned commercial property in the Cobble Hill section of Brooklyn. There, his understanding of New York’s arcane zoning laws and regulations helped convince a potential buyer to increase his initial offer price by nearly $1.5 million and helped smooth the way to the eventual successful conclusion of the sale.

Whether it is fashioning a Board Package to show his customer in the best light, handling delicate negotiations, filtering emotions out of dealings between buyers and sellers, or the ability to assimilate the facts of product inventory, it is just this understanding of details that makes Michael so valuable to his clients. And Michael is a life-long resident of the New York area, (he was born in Manhattan, grew up in Queens, worked for nearly 20 years in Brooklyn, owned a house in Bergen County, New Jersey for over 30 years and has owned his own Condominium in the Kips Bay section of Manhattan for the past 7 years, and so has an intimate knowledge of the neighborhoods, and people of the city.

At Corcoran, Michael has the good fortune to be associated with Fern Hamberger, his wife of more than 40 years, and an experienced broker in her own right. Their complementary skills work to serve their growing list of clients. Their collaboration means someone is available to their busy clients at almost any time of the day, including evenings on work days, and all day on weekends.

Michael graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in Accounting, and received an MBA in Taxation from Baruch College. He was involved for many years in a family owned business that manufactured custom Christmas decorations for Shopping Malls, first as an associate and then for several years as owner. Michael and Fern have three children - Joshua, a Patent Attorney for a Philadelphia based law firm, Eric a Pediatric Pulmonologist at NYU Langone Hospital in Manhattan, and Stephanie, a Wills and Estates Attorney with her own Long Island based firm.
