Karen Funfgeld

Karen is the first to admit it—she truly loves real estate. As a native New Yorker, she is equally passionate about the city she calls home. For nearly 30 years, she has guided buyers and sellers through every kind of market, always with one priority at the center of her work: delivering exceptional care and results for her clients.

Karen believes that real estate is deeply personal. Whether someone is purchasing their first apartment, selling a longtime family home, or making an investment decision, she understands the financial and emotional weight behind every move. Her approach is hands-on, responsive, and thoughtful. Clients consistently value her calm guidance, meticulous attention to detail, and unwavering advocacy from the first conversation through closing—and well beyond.

Her background gives her clients a distinct advantage. In addition to her residential and commercial brokerage experience, Karen spent 17 years as the principal owner of Madison Appraisal Group, advising lenders, developers, investors, architects, the New York State Supreme Court, and private property owners. Her deep expertise in valuation, underwriting, and market analysis allows her to price strategically, negotiate confidently, and anticipate challenges before they arise. She has also consulted on projects from acquisition through condominium conversion and sellout, bringing a comprehensive understanding of the full real estate lifecycle.

A graduate of NYU with a degree in Economics, Karen moved to Manhattan in 1993 and has lived in the West Village, the Upper West Side, and now Hudson Heights. As a New York State Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser, Licensed Real Estate Salesperson, and property owner herself, she believes wholeheartedly in the long-term value of New York City real estate.

Outside of her professional life, Karen enjoys biking, skiing, and tennis. She is an active USTA captain, a board member and director of Metropolitan Tennis Group, and volunteers with God’s Love We Deliver and Food Bank For New York City.

Above all, Karen is committed to building lasting relationships. Many of her clients return to her again and again—and refer friends and family—because they know she will treat their goals as if they were her own.
