James Michael Angelo is one of the most connected agents in Manhattan. With a high-profile background in entertainment and design, his knowledge of space, location and character is a true advantage for anyone looking to buy or sell property.
James has a keen sense of style and space planning, and knows luxury living at its best.
As a senior interior architect for famed designers Jamie Drake and David Easton, he designed large-scale hospitality projects such as St. Regis Hotels, and five-star resorts in Aspen for developers like Starwood and Related Industries. His residential design credits include renovating Manhattan pied-a-terres, gut renovations of prewar townhouses and new construction at The Carlton House.
A Boston native, James grew up acting and dancing in an entrepreneurial family. His parents started and ran three businesses, instilling in him a drive for success and customer service. James moved to New York to attend FIT, where he studied Advertising/Design and Menswear. He enjoyed success acting on stage and television, but was always drawn to his fascination with space and design. James ultimately realized that his love of interiors and knack for connecting with people were tailored-made for real estate. His ability to listen to his clients and truly hear what they want and need in a home cannot be taught.
James and his husband, Broadway dancer/choreographer Jonathan Warren, live in Manhattan's fastest-growing neighborhood, South Harlem, with their two dogs Aidan and Cooper. Having moved from the Upper East Side to Harlem at the start of its renaissance in 2010, his experience and instinctual knowledge of where and when to buy and sell are invaluable.
Additionally, James is an accomplished writer with the Jennifer Lyons Literary Agency, and author of the forthcoming memoir “Life After Amway” based on his hit one-man Off-Broadway show. He also blogs for the Huffington Post, writes for film and television, and makes people laugh night after night as a regular at Caroline’s on Broadway, Stand-Up NY and The Stand NYC.
James sets everyone he meets at ease the moment they meet him, and provides each client with seamless guidance through the arduous buying and selling process. Plus, he'll make you laugh when you need it most! His philosophy is simple: set realistic expectations, and be of service every step of the way.
