Ian Smith

Ian Smith is a born and raised New Yorker who helps renters, buyers, and landlords navigate the city’s fast moving real estate market with local insight, market data, and straightforward advice. He works across residential leasing and sales throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan, with a strong focus on new development and thoughtfully designed rental communities.

Ian currently serves as Director of Strategic Growth, Innovation, and Experience at Charney Companies, where he leads leasing strategy and resident experience initiatives across the firm’s residential portfolio, including the Gowanus Wharf campus in Brooklyn.

Before joining Charney, Ian worked at Compass and The Corcoran Group representing renters, buyers, landlords, and developers across New York City. His experience on both the brokerage and ownership side helps clients understand not just how to find the right apartment, but how buildings operate and how deals actually get done.

A graduate of Ithaca College’s Theatre Arts program, Ian grew up in a family of musicians and artists and remains closely connected to New York’s creative community.
