Harperley Hall is a rare 1911 Arts and Crafts style masterpiece designed by architect Henry Wilhelm Wilkinson and situated on Central Park West at 64th Street. Built by Wilkinson as his personal residence, this high floor apartment has been expertly restored and renovated to pay respect to the unique original features. As you enter the apartment there is an overwhelming sense of warmth, dignity and impressive scale. The key virtues of the Arts and Crafts movement are on display immediately with the foyer’s terra cotta tile floor, oak details of the moldings, beamed ceiling, paneling and cabinetry. A magnificent octagonal dining room elevates those virtues to the highest level with rustic bold styling that features green Kirkstone flooring, gilt ceiling, original oak wall paneling, glass and oak doors and storage cupboards built into the corners. The foyer opens to a vast square living room that looks out to extraordinary views of Central Park. The oak beams of the entrance vestibule transition into a coffered ceiling soaring more than 10 feet. On the North wall is a dramatically imposing limestone fireplace with the Latin motto ?strive to the highest? carved into the mantle. French doors lead to an incomparable wrought iron balcony spanning 75 feet of park frontage and populated by trees, flowers, seating areas and awnings. This impressive balcony is the only one of this scale in the building and is an iconic and unusual architectural element.

The brilliantly lit library with floor to ceiling windows, park views, and a wood burning fireplace ends the original architect’s apartment. An adjacent office with full windowed bath begins the contiguous one bedroom apartment that can also be accessed via a separate entran
