THE BUILDING AND NEIGHBORHOOD:
No. 315 West 36th Street, a 1925 building designed by George and Andrew Blum, is listed in the National Architectural Trust. It is one of the most classic styles of Art Deco loft buildings with an arched entryway, decorative metal spandrels with abstract floral patterns, stone reliefs and rosettes, and a series of dramatic setbacks on the upper floors. Typical of the Blums, there are geometric patterns in light and dark brick at every setback.

The Garment Center Historic District has recently been listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The neighborhood is known for its pristine collection of 1920’s-era loft buildings d
