This dramatic East Village loft is rich with history and has undergone a meticulous gut renovation with no detail spared. Originally built in 1875 as the rectory for neighboring Holy Cross Church, this fortress-like East Village landmark has been reimagined as a 20-unit boutique coop elevator building with a newly renovated common roof deck. Unit 3B’s original details were carefully and lovingly restored during the renovation, including exposed brick throughout, hardwood oak floors, and soaring 12’+ ceilings.

In the living room, four large north facing windows provide excellent natural light throughout the day. A custom black walnut storage bench runs the length of the room, providing built-in seating and storage, painstakingly made with handcrafted walnut slats. Ample storage has been thoughtfully placed throughout the apartment, including a storage loft accessed by a solid walnut Putnam Co. rolling ladder, wine storage, and closets complete with custom Japanese shoji screen doors.

The kitchen has been masterfully designed, employing the work of local artisans. Custom kitchen cabinets were locally crafted in Brooklyn with salvaged butternut wood and vintage chicken wire glass. The row of kitchen pantry cabinets are constructed of custom burnished steel designed by Brooklyn based artisanal metalworkers. High-end appliances include a Viking range, Liebherr refrigerator and Bosch dishwasher. An authentic Italian Murano glass chandelier hangs over the custom island made of reclaimed NYC red cedar water tank wood topped with hickory wood.

Entering through a beautiful original brick archway, the bedroom features a custom metal sliding barn door, floor to ceiling custom closets and storage with ladder, and a pointed arch window with custom fitted wooden shutter. The bathroom features an extra deep soaking tub, custom millwork, and exposed wood beams.

Located in the heart of the East Village, the apartment faces the
