Discussion about
OK...let's name, names and tell stories. We have all heard the rants about "blood suckers." Name them. I dare you. Brokers are invited to join in this...they have a lot to tell about their own business. Common guys, make this a real blog. I will start: The worst of the worst is Fern Hammond. She has pulled every sleazy trick in the book. I had one incident with her years ago. I was in the market... [more]

"Name them. I dare you." Eeewww, you are so brave, Mr Blacklist. so -- how about your name?

"Do you know what she did? When my broker held an open house, she attacked people in the lobby. " OHH MY GOSH....Did she use a weapon? Physically grab them? Verbally abuse them?...What kind of "attack" was it?

To make this meaningful, give prurient details.

"6 years..."
6 years is nothing to you, right? Pathetic.

How old are you, "youcannot"?
When you're 6, 6 years is a lifetime, when you're 66 a short time ago.
I'd guess you are 28?

No Jimstreeteasy, she didn't use a weapon but Fern represented herself as the person they, the potential buyer was coming to see.
Yeah...you guys..just continue to whine.............
I hope you find a wife just like her

Dear Mr. Blacklist.

I am a broker with over 22 years in NYC Real Estate. I have to tell you - you are right on.
You are right to select the broker of your choice and Sadly you had one of the experiences that do give us a bad name.

No broker/agent should be grabbing clients from a lobby where another broker has set up an open house. it is highly unethical and does not fit any rule of ethics. Any agent that may not agree with that is probably doing that kind of sleazy business too. I did read your post and the others.
While I do not know that broker, it is true that some are barracudas, but there are many good, and ethical agents/brokers, I hope you got your desired results.

Of course there are brokers right on this board who boldly admit to outright lying about square footage and how many "bedrooms" a given apartment has.

It should be the opposite: A list of GOOD brokers, since even the brokers in these boards admit 90% of them suck. The default is they suck. The list should be those that do not.

I think there should be a "rate your broker" website, or an angie's list for real estate brokers.

How about a web site for idiots in real estate deals who expect things handed to them on a silver platter?

Different story about Fern Hammond: https://www.halstead.com/real-estate-agent/fern-hammond
If she was such a problem, what didn't you call the brokerage she was working with? Or maybe you coop/condo board?

Somehow I managed to be stood up by Fern Hammonds THREE times after we had confirmed appointments to view apartments she represented a couple of years ago. As I personally never got to see her apartments in person, I'm always surprised when these apartments actually sell. Which leads me to wonder if one actually needs a broker to sell one's apartment. To this day I'm not sure is she's just extremely unorganized or if she was trying to get back at me for something I never did to her...

Look no further - no address provided which is a huge red flag and they take a lot of space in nyt real est section

I made the mistake of calling a broker who did not list the address of the listing. I suspected he really didn't have the listing because he took me to other places. After the second place, I refused to go further. I told him I may an appointment to look at only 1 apartment. He kept double talking, so I left. He called me over and over again about "better" listings until I said some very rude, crude remarks.

And he obviously deserved it, even from a proper lady like you.
