Discussion about
Tony Vegas development struggles in downturn It was a symbol of Las Vegas largesse during the good times. Now it's an emblem of recession blues. With a manmade lake in the desert, an Italian-style village beyond the suburban sprawl and neighborhoods fit for diva Celine Dion, the Lake Las Vegas resort development flouted good sense and modesty in the tradition of all great Las Vegas dreams. But it has fast turned sour for some. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31112551/

At first I wondered who Tony Vegas was - great stage name for a crooner with a facelift.

steve -- the late Liberace was his accompanist.

Here's some of what you can see at the Liberace Museum: http://www.liberace.org/liberace_gallery/
They cropped Tony Vegas out -- he was always getting eclipsed, so he was used to it.

Some of my friends invested in Vegas RE (the same people who invested in Miami RE) a couple of years ago, and they are completely f_cked. They can't even get anyone to show any interest, even at 50% off. Things here, at least, aren't THAT bad.

I was about to invoke the Yeti, but then thought I'd say that it could never get quite as bad here as AZ, FL & NV. But 'Yet?' still holds true regardless.

nyc212... yep a couple of college buds went to a bachelor party in vegas and then went back again to flip some homes... they r so "screwed." I bet their significant other is saying why couldn't you just go to a nice strip show and gamble just $10K that weekend.. why'd ya have to go flipping?

Thats 3 strikes for Perfitz... he's out.

w67, totally. But the Vegas RE was cheap from our standards to begin w/, even at the peak (unlike Miami), so luckily their losses aren't really tremendous.

Oh, also, malthus, et al., I am not going to get into the "how much lower are we going in NYC?"-type schadenfreude-based discussion here.

"Vegas is spec city, sunny place, shady people."

Haha...totally agree! Great place to visit, but after 96 hours straight of partying and..ahem....other things...you just want to take a shower, scrape the Vegas off your skin and sleep for a week.

I think petrfitz has a lot of money and more gumption, so I wouldn't make fun of him.

Yes, I have found that the more people brag on anonymous message boards, the more true it is.

He's ignoring this post, though. He's posted on the board since. Just won't address this wee bit issue.

I don't like him, but I'd rather put my money with Petrfitz for an investment than with nyc10022 who is book smart but has no life prospects. Just like his parents.

Why, your intention is to lose money?

So far, perfitz's investment calls have led to personal bankrupcty, bankruptcy of the development he bought in, and calling buying right before a 25% decline.

Short of burning it, no way to lose money quicker than that.

And my specific calls... well, I was right several times over on SSO (all calls made at dow 8k or less), right to reference Shiller several times with "valuations good" (which was 2 days before the last bottom" plus that whole, uh SHORT REAL ESTATE thing.

Now tell me about my "life prospects" again?
