Any comments about living in The Rivergate or Eastbridge Landing, pros or cons
very isolated
rivergate is a dormitory, don't know about eastbridge landing.
I live in a 630 sq. ft studio in Eastbridge Landing - really nice property with great services (love our doormen & super, the gym is always clean, and laundry room is reliable). But am currently paying a premium that is unreasonable given the market for similar and more upscale rentals - definitely negotiate hard if you decide to sign.
khayashi...what are you paying for a studio..thanks
2675/month
that's really high for this market...you'll definitely be able to negotiate a much lower rent.
I live in the Rivergate and watched it deteriorate over the years.
Was a much nicer building 10 years ago and it is neglected, caliber of service has diminished.
Ask anyone who lives there what they think of the elevator "brain" they must have installed 2 or 3 years ago.Nothing boils your blood when you hit the down button and one of the elevators are sitting 2 floors below you and won't come get you.
1st avenue, especially there is a total bore. The south tower enjoys the quiet helicopters from 8am to 7 pm. With the occasional police copter pilot rookie practicing landings at 2am.
I lived in the Rivergate in 2005-2006 (so my info may be a bit stale). Apartments are big, pretty nice, and a good value for the money, in my opinion. Leasing office is rude and obnoxious. Definitely loud with FDR and the hospital, but it didn't bother me. The balconies are nice, so is the rooftop. In a weird way, it's both central and isolated. There is literally nothing within a 5-minute walk. On the other hand, you can get almost anywhere in Manhattan in a 10-15 minute cab ride.
As usual, it's all about what you want.
2 weeks and counting for the 9am to midnight jackhammering in that mystery building next to the hospital. It is LOUD.
I encountered this problem 2 years ago when they errected that building. It mistakenly looks like part of the hospital and after numerous complaints to numerous venues, the final answer was that it is owned by Amtrak and the state is not subject to the same construction laws as everyone else in the city.
It is impossible to leave your windows open in the tower facing south and if lasts as long as the last job (3months), I am out of this building.
Anyone looking to move here should consider the north tower only.
