The chatter has quieted down in the last two or so weeks...wonder if that's a sign?

Wow, just shows how two people can see things so differently: I think the chatter has picked up. I think it's just that you have more ability to ignore threads which end up being total bullshit than I do, so to you it seems like talk has shrunk, but to me it looks like it's increased.

the bullshit has picked up. the good, meaty, meaningful posts that help you come away smarter have decreased big time.

agreed.

and that's the way it always goes. In fact, I pointed that out to ?aboutready? when she told me to stop worrying about crap posts and that people should just ignore them. The noise crowds out the signal (i.e. no one listens when the signal to noise ratio gets too high because the noise drowns out the signal).

just a month or so ago i would get LOTS out of these boards. now, i seem to spend 10 minutes here and wonder why i am wasting my time. (a lot of ridiculous time-wasting posts from the likes of alpine). i have considered kicking the habit for a while.

your never going to leave SE sniper. Your addicted. Leaving is harder than you think it is. It took me 6 months to finally leave the Zillow forums.

Sniper, I have felt the same way. I'm not going to miss it while on vacation, that's for sure.

This what the post is about.
A think a break is in order for me as well.
The big question...is the malaise here any indication as to what's on the street?

FWIW, I used to spend hours on SE everyday over the course of the last year. Then I hit my wall about 6 weeks ago. This market is slowly unwinding, but I no longer have the patience for the blow-by-blow disintegration. I never thought I would say this, but I need a real estate break. I spend about 10 minutes a day now, and that is more than enough to peruse new listings, scan the threads, and look at closed sale prices.

Personally, I think if all that happened was that a sweep of the threads on the first page was made every 2 hours and almost all the threads were merged with the prior threads where the exact same topic has been discussed 179 times before, more people would spend more time reading and posting and not thinking about what a waste of time it is wading through threads which have been posted 179 times before.
