Discussion about
Does anyone have experience with Pietra Cardosa as kitchen countertops? I love the honed look but am worried about the upkeep. I can't seem to get a straight answer on what kind of stone it actually is - limestone, maybe? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Get granite, you will never have a problem.

"Get granite, you will never have a problem."

Aside from scratching, burning (contrary to popular belief, setting hot pots and pans on granite WILL cause damage), and staining (because it's so porous it sucks everything up like a sponge unless you wipe it up quickly).

And then there's that potential RADON problem ...

NYCMatt.....I've had different types of granite...ubatuba, baltic..... and NEVER had a problem putting hot pots on them. The surfaces never scratched or stained so sorry, you are misinformed.

On the other hand, I now have pietra bedonia countertops and these have to be wiped up immediately or they will show every stain.
