you should be able to buy 1/2 of da bronx for the price on one of those houses. watch them sit on the market, empty, for the next 20 yrs or so.

They're McMansions, which is a bad thing. A McMansnion means it's too big of a house on too small a piece of land. The result is flashy and ugly.

They're the kind of homes that people buy when they suddenly get wealthy, and feel undeserving of the wealth. It's something that someone with no taste or sensibility would buy out of a feeling of inadequacy in order to "show off" to others.

Plus, the idea of spending $10 million in Riverdale is ridiculous. It's like spending $15 a pound on ground chuck instead of on sirloin.

Oh I don't know. It's a nice little enclave, and the homes are thoughtfully and architecturally well-designed and tasteful. "McMansions" are more accurately giant boxes "designed" by developers and devoid of any architectural detail.

Fence it off and turn it into a theme park. Call it Bubbleland.

And they're only a 15-block walk from the "1" train.

Huge houses on tiny plots; the ghetto for rich folk - not for me.

I see it as the best of both worlds: tons of space, but close enough to other people that you feel like you're living in a community, rather than feeling isolated on an estate.
