Flat-rate has always been great for me. Plenty of threads on this topic already. Take a look and you will get more info than you ever wanted.

And, good luck with the move, of course!

flat rate worked for me too... a negotiated, pre-approved rate that they stuck to. A much better way to conduct business than signing a contract and getting shafted the day of the move, while your stuff is in the moving truck and "we dont accept checks" either, yada yada...

i used A+M moving twice recently - they charge by the hour but one took 3 hours and the other took 4 hours. i was leery of using hourly movers from all the stories i had heard, but they were very professional and extremely efficient. plus, they had insurance to meet my buildings' requirements.

i used www.citymove.com initially to find them. i sound like an advertisement, but hey the moves cost half of what i was expecting to pay based on the fixed quotes i got. i had a pretty standard 1br move though, so if you need specialized moving for artwork and such maybe another place would be good to go with instead.

had a very unpleasant experience with Oz. I've used Flat Rate twice and have come away impressed.
