Discussion about
Has anyone else noticed that ever since Streeteasy went login, the amount of broker posts has increased dramatically. Now, of course this can be exlpained by fewer non-broker posts and probably not more brokers flocking here (although I fear that is what may happen). Streeteasy is turning into a haven for brokers to post their names, messages, phone numbers, website addresses. Even the ones that... [more]

He want brokers to post #4, but he doesnt want them to earn a commission, buyers expect brokers to drive thm around town for free.

Brokers go after clients with real money, not these posers on Streeteasy.

Putting aside what anyone may think of the OP and his view, As far as I can see there is only one broker who chooses to post her information. This hardly constitutes the kind of large scale runaway problem OP purports to address.

I haven't noticed that at all. There used to be one or two ads previously, and there is about the same volume now. The boards have actually got better in my opinion.

I agree with #9, the OP is taking a little bit of anecdotal evidence and making is seem like a trend. He sounds like a stock broker I use to have.

I'm not in real estate though obviously it fascinates me but why don't people pick on someone else rather than brokers? I don't know why they are so reviled in NYC. I lived for many years in Los Angeles & there they are respected professionals. Are the standards of training & behaviour much lower in NYC or is it just the high high prices for tiny spaces that make people so cranky?

Tiny spaces and when walk out the door for some fresh air, the car exhaust goes to their head.

#4 - Streeteasy is built to find and discuss property and real estate and one can do that without a broker. If one wants to do it with a broker they'd call one.

#5 - So now brokers deserve a commission for posting???

Wouldnt it be nice to be able to look at, read and discuss real estate without salesmen of the product (which is what a broker is) constantly chiming in?

If you go to a website that discusses cars, and dealers and salesmen were constantly posting, wouldnt it change the dynamic of the site and strip it away from honest conversation void of hidden agendas?

But in the end, most of the replies sound like they came from a broker anyway.

In this case cars are a bad example #14, most people in Manhattan don't drive, many don't have licenses, so yes, the car salesman would still know much more than you.

All the broker posts on this site are getting boring. The variety of comments posted (aside from the truly immature ones) were refreshing back when login wasnt necessary.
