Flat-fee closing attorney recommendations

Discussion about
I already did a search for this but the results were just recommendations for general real estate lawyers. Anyone have any recommendations for real estate lawyers that do "flat-fee" closings? I'm looking to buy a property at the "low-end" (under $500K), so it may not make sense to pay thousands in attorney fees to close. Does this make sense? or is it better to have an attorney that bills on hours for closings?

Flat fee is fine. That way you fee comfortable asking questions without worrying about the clock ticking. Even if you are buying something at the low end, I do think it makes sense to use someone experience (who focuses on NYC real estate) and not go for the attorney who is cheapest. My attorney is good. He is in midtown and does closings based on a flat fee.

We chose our flat fee lawyer because we were first time buyers (also under 500k). We knew we would have a lot of questions - we disclosed this info upfront & she quoted us a flat fee. After feeling great about the entire process, Friday she called us at 12:30 PM & stated she spent 2 more hours on us than she was planning on & felt it only fair to charge us another $500 for her time... the closing was MONDAY MORNING & we had issues that still needed to be addressed with less than 5 hours in the business day. She added the pressure that she needed to leave her office early & she was going away from the weekend (essentially, because it was a Friday & she wanted to go the beach - it was now extra time). With a gun to our heads we gritted our teeth, got it done & kept our mouths shut throughout the closing, which went very smoothly. We now have our dream condo & are very happy, but will never recommend her again - we also told the people who recommended her of our experience, they were mortified. The point is - lawyers, no matter what will charge you for whatever they can... no matter what you are quoted up front. Go with the person who is the most competent.
