sunnyside-Celtic Gardens

I've never been to Sunnyside, but the NY Times did a nice piece a year a too ago, so you might check it out. I've met some nice folks who live there and they seem to like it, and apparently the commute to midtown-then anywhere from there--is super convenient. Good luck.

rooms are small - there are other buildings in Sside with larger apartments - but CP has PARKING, which you need in that neighborhood

There are many layouts to choose from at Celtic Park, from small to above average. Either way, the rooms are much larger than any new construction. They have 24-hour security and I find the area to be very safe.

fyi - parking is quite limited for Celtic Park. You can get on the waiting list, but it's a waiting list, not a guarantee.

is it clean though? I saw a few aprtmets and they looked pretty nice. Just worried about bed bugs, mice, etc-again thank everyone

don't know the building but sunnyside is the best neighborhood in that part of queens

I know a few people who have lived there for years, and they have never mentioned problems with vermin. But remember this is a city, all buildings are likely to have mice and cockroaches from time to time.

Really you need to go look at the building you are looking at -- go to the laundry, the storage areas, the hallways, et cetera -- do they look clean? Ask some people who live there - people are coming and going all the time, stop and ask some people who live there about their experiences.
