Discussion about The Phillips Club at 155 West 66th Street in Lincoln Square
but....
what about me?
Apologies for the misspellings/typos. I usually post from my iPhone so its difficult to type. You see I lead a very active life. I may be posting while in a cab, train, or bus. Some times when I am walking. But, very rarely am I sitting at home behind my mac posting. Point; I am not "sitting at home" saving. When I am paying $15/beer on the peninsula hotel rooftop it's to entertain. This is the only value in one of these apartments, to impress. You are kidding yourself if you think it make sense financially.
You use the bus?
who else uses the bus?
you/JimHones?
you know everything.
tell us.
you asked the question. Is this some sort of special teaching method?
yes
Oh, well, then I'm naturally curious.
So, your question was what?
too late stupid
NYCNovice: I don't know if he could get away with his alter-ego on that site for very long.
Until a couple of years ago, se held get-togethers at various restaurants around town.
He and the bully gang members met there. ( He doesn't troll me as they do.)
Free drinks were served. A couple of the gang members have serious drinking problems. Not a good scene and I'm glad that I was too busy to attend any of those get-togethers.
se stopped the get-togethers because they understood that those gatherings gave the bullies a chance to meet se commenters and get their real names. They have each others' contact info, they e-mail each other and "have discussions off the board" (in the words of falcogold).
So w67th is here. He's in the grey zone so if a reader wants to avoid his comments all they have to do is not unhide them.
I use the bus more than any other means of transportation including my car.
which line?
Columbiacounty has a big car. Sometimes his friends chide him for being so wasteful.
Brooks2 - Agree to disagree.
Aside from that, I think it is best that I leave the discussion now because I fear I am beginning to sound as out of touch with reality as Mitt Romney. But this actually brings up why we don't discuss our TPC purchase with anyone: Many people with more money than we have would look at this as an odd penny-pinching way to get a piece of New York; many people with the same amount of money we have cannot understand our preferences; regarding those with less money, it is generally not cool to discuss extravagant purchases. Finally, I really don't think anybody cares. Regardless, I can honestly say that I cannot think of a single person who is or would be impressed by our owning at TPC. I think they would look at our cars and wonder why we didn't spend more there or look at our clothes or my hair and suggest that I redirect some spending there.
finally. do you promise to leave for good?
>Aside from that, I think it is best that I leave the discussion now because I fear I am beginning to sound as out of touch with reality as Mitt Romney.
Ooh, what's a grocery scanner?
Agreed. And that's funny.
Why does columbiacounty want NYCNovice to leave for good?
maybe brooks can shed some light on that.
She's listening to cc?!
No, she can leave this discussion but not stop commenting on other threads.
here comes the village idiot.
Which village, there's a big difference between being the idiot for the City of New York, and being the idiot in the village of Chatham.
Truth is the Village Idiot.
Any village.
You pick it.
CC, you're right.
However, I have to say that I like ph41 ... she's a pearl of a girl.
However however, I thought it was completely unnecessary for her to post photos showing the dreary interiors of the apartment of what is obviously a sad lonely depressing old spinster, and then claim that they are pictures of trUth's place. Tacky misrepresentation. Just not done.
As if trUth doesn't have enough problems already.
those pics were awful....truly depressing. you're completely right.
awful, just awful.
No one has posted on this thread in 16 mos until NYCnovice posted yesterday describing how "delightful" it is. He/she also defered to how it is marketed to the top 1% but insist they don't own it to impress but because it makes sense financially.
Question: do you think they really want to sell?
Okay, I am back. I really feel that I was called back. Truth be told, the reason that I have been posting more is that my Quora friends say they hate lurkers, and that everyone who "lurks" on a site should contribute something. I responded that I don't have anything to contribute that would be of any interest to others; rather, I go to sites to learn. They tried to get me to contribute legal opinions; I explained the complications there with professional ethics, etc. They said, "surely you must know something about something." So, I resolved that if I had any knowledge that might be of use to anyone on any site that I frequent, I would endeavor to contribute. My rule for posting is that I post things that I now know that I once wanted to know.
Oh yeah, and I also did want to put word out on former landlord, but I guess that falls under "things that I now know that I once wanted to know."
go back to lurking.
You go back to lurking.
no...you go.
But I like you guys, even if you don't like me. Clearly, unlike Brooks2, I need to get out more.
I like leeches. I don't know what Quora's problem is. But they're ex-Facebook, and Facebook is an odor that just doesn't wash off.
The 3-br condo at 233k (10-29 on 2/24/12, 10-29 on 01/31/12), 319k (10-29 on 4/27/10 doesn't look too bad a deal under a narrow set of circumstances.
NYCNovice, I don't dislike you, although I think you are a bit of a nut.
columbiacounty generally doesn't like women who have opinions. The obvious major exception is aboutready, but as Truth points out, she's part of the CBGB band which makes it a different story.
Truth be told, columbiacounty doesn't praise aboutready much, he's kind of all-around muted when it comes to her. But columbiacounty being muted about someone could be considered a form of praise. Possibly his conflict about aboutready stems from the fact that she is a recently purchasing bear.
I don't dislike you either.
Oh and HB, FYI, I am on the bus
Which bus?
What's not to like? You're adding meaningful discussion about a NYC real estate topic. Anyone who judges someone by how much money they make, whether or not they rent/own, or whether they ride the bus is an asshole.
NYCNovice: Proceed with extreme caution, at this point.
Do not give her any details about you.
Exactly, trUth!
Also, NYCNovice, don't give ph41 any details about you, or she's liable to post photos showing the dreary interiors of the apartment of what is obviously a sad lonely depressing old spinster, and then claim that they are pictures of your place. She's already done exactly that, but claiming they're pictures of trUth's place.
The gang's all here now (except for wbottom/yikes, who I see you already encountered on your confessions thread.)
And from the above bully gang member's comment -- you can see the value of their contributions to se discussion threads.
alanhart is the gay male version of a sad lonely depressing old alkie spinster.
What ph41 did was bad form but pales in comparison to what the bully gang members have done.
It made no difference to me in real life and it's clear to anyone with good sense that I have a very good life filled with friends and good work. Anyone who can read can find my name on the credits of documentaries, an indie movie filmed with big name actors, books, music. I'm quoted, by name, in the newspaper.
Nothing more sad than a couple of drunken bullies sitting at home drinking day and night, still trying to prove otherwise.
NYCNovice, obviously you'll make your own determination. If you have "good sense."
Thanks for sharing your story.
Yes, and take in her lovely writing on the What do you do for a living dicussion.
Or just about any discussion thread. The later it gets the drunker she gets and that quality
input will be directed at you one day.
aboutready is trying to put one over on a trial attorney. LOL!!!
For those who are owners: if you purchase a unit in PC1, do you have access to rooms in PC2 (or vice versa)? E.g. if I bought a 1-bedroom in PC1, would the 1-bedrooms in PC2 be part of the availability pool? Is there an option to request an extra bed? I read that 4 persons is max in a 1-bedroom, but have situation with couple and two teenage children (brother and sister) who do not want to share a bed! Thanks for any information you can provide.
Hi, just curious: Is there any wiggle room on the pricing? Does it help if you go without a buying agent, to argue for a reduction on the basis of the buy-side commission?
