ohh.and "millionaire" doesn't include home value.
I can't believe they're still defining High Net Worth Individuals as those having investable assets of >$1m. And I can't believe so few people in the NY Metro area meet that definition. Or did I misunderstand what that means?
maybe they already own their homes, because they don't seem to be buying high-priced real estate in droves these days. i think what matters is how many NEW millionaires you add.
To me, anything less than 20M is poor.
Anyway, I'm obviously included in that list but I need to see a list of the true wealthy. Below 20 million people shouldn't count as wealthy.
Ew, LA is poor for having only 5 million less than NYC. And Ew look at poor Chicago.
alanhart "And I can't believe so few people in the NY Metro area meet that definition. "..
........
Did you think NYC was heaven? There is no city on the planet with as many millionaires as NYC's (621,000). Not even half.
Bernie Madoff and a declining stock market?
Detroit has millionaires? Really? I mean, plural and all?
"Did you think NYC was heaven?" Affirmative.
wonderbra, I thought your character was killed off by popular demand. Are you reappearing as your identical cousin or something? And why did Dallas, where you live, lose so many millionaires that it's number one on that list?
I have a cousin now? So, now I'm RR, Prada_Addict, Edna, President, Socialist. LOL, I'm not from Texas and we certainly don't do inbreeding in Manhattan like they do down south.
I'm very young, gorgeous, well dressed and live in a Tribeca duplex run by illegal domestic staff from Puerto Rico and Cambodia. It's OK sweetie, maybe one day you'll make it on a millionaire list (you might have the privilege to be a top-notch pauper at $1M but you'll never make it above $20M, I can guarantee that), but until that time comes I'll advise you to tone down your jealousy, live and learn.
Toodles!
Uh huh.
One of those Texas, it really doesn't matter which.
Texases, that is.
You are so unfortunate.
*yawn*
this wonder person has a definite capability of lessening the quality of every thread he comments on.....
Yawn on my ass, bitch.
Another thread hijacked by wonderbra.
lowjacked
wonderboy -- you may be under the misimpression that it is cute to be such an elitist douche ... -- but it is not.
it poorly masks your insecurities for how much you actually hate yourself. And shows that you don't actually come from money -- because those who have money know how unacceptable it is to throw it in the face of others.
I don't hijack anything. I simply stated that $1,000,000 is too poor and like usual, all the boys (*cough* Alanhart, w67th, columbia, etc *cough*) come flocking to the yard (or my Tribeca terrace, to be precise) with their crude insults.
My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard... What can I do? It's not my fault. It is what it is.
It's spitup, not milkshake
manhattanfox, it's not unacceptable to throw!
I like throwing things.. for instance, I like to pop champagne and spray bitches down with 100 dollar bills when I go party at those trashy clubs with the B&T set in the meatpacking district. It's rather charitable of me, I should say. Right?
There is nothing wrong with flaunting one's good fortune. The poors need something to look up to. God blessed me with beauty, wealth and an amazing sense of fashion and I like to share it with the world and flaunt!
Um, crude insults from whom, exactly, WhiteTrashBoy?
illegal Puerto Rican, very interesting wonderboy....
alanhart, columbiacounty, w67th, aboutready, and your dumbass to name a few. Do you not read these threads?
I give my glamorous perspective on these streeteasy threads and then everyone piles on me like last season's Hermes sample sale.
Is "glamorous" the new slang for delusional and dreary?
"I like throwing things.. for instance, I like to pop champagne and spray bitches down with 100 dollar bills when I go party at those trashy clubs with the B&T set in the meatpacking district. It's rather charitable of me, I should say. Right?"
More like last season's herpes sample sale.
"herpes sample sale"
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so in Houston "millionaires" don't know how to diversify and still put every penny in oil and gas?
Aboutready, you do have the ability of raising the quality of the treads you comment on. That was hilarious!
"God is great, beer is good,... people are crazy."
spread em' wide wonderbra... no wider.... come on you can do better than that for $1. .... now just hold it like that while I get my duct tape....
AR!
haha!!!!!!
I was going to do a post on this thread, but then I saw AR's -- nothing tops that.
Now, back to the original thread. This data isn't all that shocking and is more reflective of overall comparative wealth levels rather than how the declines are concentrated.
I'd imagine the millionaire loss is lower in NYC in per capita terms because the median millionaire is worth more. This apparently just counts the number that cross the line ($1M) on the way down. It doesn't mean that NY millionaires are losing less as a percent than other areas or that the net worth of millionaires in NY has held up in aggregate better than other places, only that NY millionaires were worth more on average to begin with. So, even with losses at the same rate as other places, the average millionaire in NY is less likely to cross the line down.
mimi = this wonder person has a definite capability of lessening the quality of every thread he comments on.....
mimi, your contributions are little more than complaints about brokers and complaints about George Bush and why you are superior because you don't live here but have citizenship papers.
zizi -- and your contributions?
none which means I'm no hypocrite
"I can't believe they're still defining High Net Worth Individuals as those having investable assets of >$1m. And I can't believe so few people in the NY Metro area meet that definition. Or did I misunderstand what that means?"
The $1MM investable assets is because the firms that sponsor this research are interested in how much cash is available, to switch investment firms or for purchases. If home were included the number would be MUCH larger.
Mimi hardly goes around degrading others. So actually, zizi, you kinda are.
And Mimi sounds better than Zizi...I can imagine you lisping darling broker.
"none which means I'm no hypocrite" ... what it probably means is that you're carolst, which is much much worse
where is the thread where wonbderboy got bitch slapped for pretending to own a watch that he saw in some magazine foldout? I believe s(H)e disappeared for a while after that... which watch is it now?
i think he is disappearing again now for claiming that he has a staff of 'illegal' domestic servants from Puerto Rico--part of the United States.
wonderboy - the only thing I can imagine is that you are a joke. If so, not as well done as brokerivan, my friend.
... a joke desperately in need of a good edit.
a joke desperately in need of a good "punch" line.
spiked punch
Taxes are high in the suburbs so not all the millionaires want to leave and for every millionaire retiring to Florida and Arizona there is another coming to make money or spend their money from Russia or China .
