Discussion about
Does anyone have a home owner's insurance company that they like, especially one that recently issued a new policy to you? We're buying a house in Water Mill, and a lot of the major national carriers will not write new policies in the Hamptons, due to hurricane risk. Any leads would be appreciated.

Amaden Gay agency, and State Farm have both recently given me quotes. Also, try asking the current owner of the house who carries their policy.

I was dropped a couple of years ago due to hurricane risk. After much searching, I finally found only one company willing to write me a policy due to my proximity to the open water: Farmers Insurance. It's not cheap, but it's better than nothing.

There is the hurricane issue & also the idea that water levels are rising due to global warming; the insurance issue is a problem all along the coast.

Yes, there are carriers that can be helpful. I am in the insurance business and can help you. You can call us at 570-226-4571 and ask for Suzanne or Aimee if you are still in need.
