Oro, One Brooklyn Bridge next to default? They both have huge unsold inventory -- way bigger than Forte -- and have been on the market for a very long time.

How did I know Fayek had started this thread?

Can I ask what's with the RANDOM words being CAPITALIZED for EMPHASIS? It's mildly annoying.

Zinka, I am with you on Oro!

Not so sure that One Brooklyn Bridge will entirely fall from GRACE....!

Although, 1BB was grossly overrated and overpriced..!

How is it that Toren claims that they are in 50% plus in contract? Great building in the worst location for DT BKLN.

Its called lying.

110 livingston claimed to be 100% sold, got caught trying to sell some (what exactly are you selling if you are sold out), then claimed it was just a "marketing maneuver" and then had to rent out unsold units.

As of today The total units in CONTRACT for Toren according to the Halstead Website is "86"....!

86 units in contract

240 units in total

Now this should give you the actual percentage of units in contract!

Hastead count doesnot include the "affordable" units. I'm not saying it is50% but it is not 87 only.

DT brookyn is definitely improving and changing for the better. Construction going on and all. If developers ease up on the prices and give owners willing to move in at this stage some incentives to invest here everyone will be happy.

Seamus: If developers ease up on the prices and give owners willing to move in at this stage some incentives to invest here everyone will be happy.

The If and When developers will get with the program is the million dollar question here....!

Or they might wait and wait and not offer any incentives and end up as unfortunate as the Forte.......!

You haven't noticed all the stalled construction sites?

Realistically Speaking to avoid the same fate of the Forte developers have to come down to about $500 - $600 per square foot!

glamma - "if anything downtown brooklyn needs more parks and trees, not more buildings?"

There was a plan for a park one square block on the corner of Willoughby and Duffield, by the planned revised City Point building.

Right now there is some green space (yes, it's a little bit, but every bit helps) in the MetroTech area and the Cadman Plaza park/field and Brooklyn Heights promenade and the future Brooklyn Bridge Park. The last 3 examples are not in Downtown Brooklyn, but it's only a few minutes walk away.

"Cadman Plaza park/field"

I love how this is getting called a field. Its a plaza with monuments! Just shows how little green space their really is.

Promenade is cobblestone, I believe. Not much green.

^--- Really? Are you really that bored or just that sad to be complaining about this? Maybe, you're just trying to increase your post count on SE, but wait, SE doesn't track and we don't care if you have posted 10,000 posts, so, this is just lame...

News flash that only nyc10022 will find interesting!!!:

- Cars are not cars, they are automobiles!
- Planes are not planes, they are airplanes!
- Tv's are not tv's, they are televisions!

I think I can help you with your lessons, now that you got the first page of your first grade textbook down!

Cobblestone is not "green space"!

second, brooklyn bridge park had the tiny pop up park, but its gone now... no green space there, either.

Ready to learn your abc's now?

More Changes Coming to Downtown Brooklyn

A series of changes, some big, some small, are coming to Downtown Brooklyn. Here's a roundup of the latest:
- Columbus Park and its plaza next to Brooklyn Borough Hall will be transformed into “a vibrant, engaging public space." Plans include improving the park's landscaping and increasing activities on the plaza, such as a Brooklyn-themed miniature golf course, evening movies etc. Brooklyn Eagle
- The Bloomberg administration has picked City Point, the big housing and retail complex already started (but stalled) at the old Albee Square Mall, to receive $20 million in tax-exempt bonds financed by the federal stimulus program. New York Times
More details: affordable units going in first.
- Brooklyn BP Marty Markowitz is pushing for the city Department of Finance to move out of the Brooklyn Municipal Building and into the City Point tower, above. (He's also called for retail in the ground floor of the Municipal Building.) Crain's NY
- Catsimatidis' project on Myrtle Ave., near Flatbush Avenue Extension will be partially built by the first quarter of 2010; it will house a Duane Reade drugstore, a full-service neighborhood supermarket and 95 residential apartments. Brooklyn Eagle
- Hundreds of new residents will pour into downtown Brooklyn when its tallest building—the 51-story Brooklyner—opens in 2010 at 111 Lawrence Street. Observer
- Phase I of the Downtown Brooklyn Traffic Calming Project is finally underway. Streetsblog
- The city has all of the parcels necessary to create Willoughby Square Park. Construction was projected to start late 2009. Brooklyn Eagle
- Duffield Street in Downtown Brooklyn may soon be known as “Hotel Row.” On a block with three other hotels under construction, a fourth is planned. Brooklyn Eagle
- The Fulton Streetscape Project continues with new sidewalks on side streets, the demolition of old bus shelters, kiosks, etc. New bus shelters, benches, lights and more will be installed. An open space around Albee Square is being constructed. FMIA
- Upscale retail is planned for 345 Adams Street within the year. Brooklyn Eagle

Wasn't this currently being used as a parking lot?

nyc10022 - You're hostile. Ok, go ahead and become angry and can continue to be crazy and answer questions that nobody has asked. The original quote was, "if anything downtown brooklyn needs more parks and trees, not more buildings?"

Brooklyn Promenade is falls under the NYC Parks Dept., and there are plenty of trees there. What don't you understand about the "future Brooklyn Bridge Park". Nobody said it was right now, except you of course.

Crazy people... (shakes head, rolls-eye)
