Choosing GN over Manhattan.

A few thoughts:

1. Gotta love the NYT RE advertorial section ... "Nearly two-thirds of New Yorkers believe that now is a good time to buy, according to a recent study of 2,000 potential buyers who responded to weekly polls conducted by the Corcoran Group on its Web site." You mean a poll of the people who went to a website for people who want to shop for real estate?

2. “Anxiety runs through a culture just like greed.” ... sometimes unemployment runs through that culture, too.

3. "executive beauty director" is a great job title! My friend used to work at Conde Nast, and marveled at the people in one department who got to answer the phone "Firstname Lastname, Self Promotion"

4. "her boyfriend, Yale Pollack" ... quite a name

5. I think Ms. Gorman CAN go wrong with the decision she made. Sorry.

This just in: According to a poll on the website of the Republican party, 78% of respondents beleive that Obama is a failure. (ok, I made that up, but you get the point...)

Wait, why is the renter boyfriend/fiance staying put, but she has to sell and take a loss? And move to Long Island too? I think there's a lot more going on here than just real estate.

She needs to keep the apartment & drop the boyfriend; an apartment will never cheat on you & tell you that you look FAT in that dress.

Or much worse, decline to opine on the fat dress matter. That's her bf all over.

She wants to get her $ out of the apt so she can buy something with fiance. Something tells me that mama & papa dearest gave her a big, huge dp.

and they are no doubt so excited about reading in NYT about the fact that they lost at least $200K. hey, probably less than they will spend on the wedding with Yale. (p.s. will princeton or harvard be the best man?)

seriously, why would anyone choose to live in a RENTAL in great neck over an owned apartment in manhattan? these two deserve eachother.

Where does it say she's only making $60K? (I don't doubt you, given her profession, I just missed that detail in the article.)

And, actually, if the general populace does think its a good time to buy, its generally NOT a good time to buy... means likely more declines to come.
