Discussion about
It seems that every other poster on this board insists on posting the latest economic news and data (despite the fact the most people on this board either work in finance or know people in finance). If someone doesn't post it, then there isn't a specific person to attack. That would make this a news source rather than a blog. Blogs are for fighting, name calling, bitching, etc.

"I recall the early days of this board, where there was a much greater proportion of discussions that could actually help guide people with so much of the unique characteristics of the NYC real estate market."

The problem is, how many times can you have the same conversation about brokers, square footage, avoiding broker's fees when renting, etc. - the mechanics of the NY real estate market? It's been done, over and over. Plus there's just not a lot to discuss in the market right now; not much is happening. Everyone's trying to read the tea leaves and see what happens next. Hence the bickering.

I wouldn't make too many assumptions about "the fact [that] most people on this board either work in finance or know people in finance." It's an anonymous board. You don't know who these people are or know, except in a few cases.

Everybody knows what (for them) will be boring or repetitious, and either skips it does a quick skim. It's not as if the you-know-what posts were go away if there was a specific news feed. No difference either way, really.
