I hope there is a follow-up piece that tells of her being canned because she took part in the interview.
What a dumbass to release how much she makes!

"Just scraping buy"...with a 2nd car and 4,000 sqr foot home?
boo hoo, cry me a river.

Sell all that crap (including the mom jeans) and buckle down.
Or sell the kids to a human trafficker...I hear that business is BOOMING!

"Any guys wanna respond to my point earlier: How many guys on here have either put of marriage for fear of the financial consequences of divorce, or insisted on a pre-nup longer than the Warren Commission report?"

I'm gay, but given that I can legally get married in five states, I feel that I can give my perspective.

Ultimately, I WOULD like to get married. But at this point in my life and my career, it would be financial suicide NOT to have a pre-nup. And most straight guys in my age, income, and asset bracket, from what they tell me, share this opinion.

This is hands down the most repulsive and misogynistic thread I have read in a long time. I am completely disgusted.

yeah. I suppose we should be thankful if the men on this thread take Dwayne's advice and refuse to procreate; we certainly don't need more of them running around.

"Or sell the kids to a human trafficker...I hear that business is BOOMING!"

...Dude! you seriously need to check yourself before saying things like this. evenif its just a blog.

I think it's too early to shout bankruptcy? She still has alot of expenses she can cut back on. everyone needs to live within their means. expense such as gardening, maintaining the pool, kid expenses (might sound harsh, but it will be a good chance for the kids to learn that when things get tough you need to get together, sacrifice abit and learn to be more responsible too). It will be a good lesson for kids to understand that their parents are not their piggy banks and that thriftiness is a virtue.

NOw, if she lose her job, that's a different story. Sell the house and rent a place in Harrison near the kids school!

Prince charming doesn't need to be handsome/young/superrich. There are many divorced dads out there (who aren't attractive enough for single woman but still wants a companion and second chance at a successful marriage.)

How so? Where to even start.... No conception of what marriage and parenthood are, to begin with, and the rest comes from that.

It is scary. A lot of nasty can come out when people aren't accountable for what they say. Looking at my nieces' boyfriends, I wonder what might lie beneath the nice-guy, seemingly-together, facade. So far no smug self-entitled rancorous shitheels have emerged, knock wood.

Sorry JJun Divorced Dads are (in general, there may be outliers) not looking to meet age appropriate women. Even those who are "handsome or supperrich" think they are entitled to date young women--preferably models or model types. I would bet that this woman's ex-husband's new bride is under 35.

" their home in Harrison was bought for $1,590,000 in 2000 according to Trulia. She shouldn't be underwater, and may have a great deal of equity."

Unless she withdrew the equity to pay for a lifestyle she couldn't otherwise afford. Nah, THAT couldn't happpen...

no hatred...just frustration re how divorce laws reward the lazy spouse

not a gender issue...just a fuck job for the spouse that works if the marriage implodes....no matter who does what share of the parenting...people used to ask me if my ex was a lawyer or a banker given that she was never seen at sports or other activities that required logistical involvement..they were shocked when they learned she didn't work...she got paid very well in the end

wise advice to marrieds: get on the damned sofa fast, and stay there. if this displeases spouse, divorce em and get a check (several)

i strongly dislike people (know both men and women who have) who behave this way
not hateful...not misogyny...in fact the most prime offender I know these days is a man..and as for my poor (actually quite successful financially) lovely female friend (totally platonic); she is stuck...he knows and operates accordingly...fortunately they have a great nanny, but the at home hubby will be very expensive to be rid of

No.

It sounds like the woman in the article is the one who has no conception of what marriage and parenthood are -- since she was apparently so eager to shed her husband like last year's Prada shoes.

Oops -- I forgot. In this new P.C. world, criticizing a woman, no matter how wrong she is, is considered "misogynistic".

aboutready: Clearly, he (she?) was joking about selling the kids. THAT'S what makes it funny. I don't think anyone here thought she would REALLY sell the kids.

Like where i said it would be awesome if Michael Vick spiked a poodle each time he scored a touchdown...it's only a JOKE!

Got it?

Dwanye - to address your question: I'm a married man with no prenup. Might be rolling the dice from your view, but I see it as a marriage pretty much as a union of equals, so I am not sure if helps with your lazy spouse theory (we both work and our salaries are relatively comparable given our age diff of 5 - 10 yrs).

I haven't seen this much baggage since I was stuck behind the Nigerian royal family clearing customs at JFK. There are plenty of jerks of both genders, why choose a side?

"There are plenty of jerks of both genders, why choose a side?"

The story the OP posted highlighted this chick and her divorce, what can I say? As for baggage, I have no dog in this fight. I just see a society where the majority of kids grow up in fatherless homes, I know that fatherless homes very effectively produces about 80% of our car-jackers and gang-bangers, and so I say "who is responsible for this". And I see that 90% of divorces are initiated by wives, usually for reasons having to do with the fickleness nature imbued women with, and I simply report that fact. What's "baggy" about that? I'm not even blaming women for this. Sometimes, if you don't like something about the model, you have to blame the manufacturer. But we ought to at least not bury our heads in the sand and pretend these trends don't exist, and aren't impacting society. They are.

Do you ignore other trends that are adverse to your (and humanity's) long term interests? Violent crime, economic crisis, environmental issues, etc? Then why would you ignore a trend that is as omninous as any of them: Our society is crumbling from the inside out. Look, in the long run, this doesn't matter - SOME superior society will replace us, as they have since the ancient empires of Egypt and Greece and Rome. But considering YOU may have to live through this decline, you may start to care a little bit! Increased crime b/c of all the fatherless bastards (sorry, Brad - Basterds) that are being created doesn't concern you? I hope you get to live your whole life without that ever being an issue for you, but it doesn't seem likely.

"I was stuck behind the Nigerian royal family clearing customs"

You should have told them that you were a lawyer representing a wealthy client who just died and wanted to leave all his money to them, and you just need his bank account, Social Security #, and mother's maiden name to proceed...

No that is so yesterday. Did you see Entourage last night, when Vince's friend of 10 seonds wanted to invite a friend. Now that is today! It used to be that being gay was cool, then being black was cool, no no. The new cool is telling your ex to fuck off, most of the judges nowadays are agreeing! old P.C. is just boring. NEW P.C. is COOL!

ChasingWamus,
Love the screen name. Any connection to the infamous Caroline Warmus of 'Fatal Attraction' fame?
http://www.trutv.com/library/crime/notorious_murders/women/warmus/3.html
Just for the record, I had 3 dates with Caroline when she first moved to Manhattan, circa 1986.
I was set up by a friend who was the RE agent who helped find her an apartment.

I include this here because some things are worse than divorce.

"I think she needs to sell, and rent in Queens. Done."

Why does everyone think she should sell and move to NYC? First off, if she is all the way in Rye, she is there for a reason, which is the top rated school system. Why would she want to give that up? If she can't afford the house, then her best option is to sell and buy a smaller house in Rye.

Because even on her salary of $150K, with her fixed childcare expenses, she couldn't afford to buy in Rye.

How do you know? She may have enough equity in her current home, to pay cash for the next smaller one, with 1/3 of the property taxes. But you'd prefer that she rips her kids out of school and moves to Queens to punish her.

Kids are resilient. They'll survive. Indeed, it would probably be the best thing for them.
