funny, the DD/BR on 83/1st corner just closed down...
It's funny that DD opened at 86th & Amsterdam -- a site that drew such huge protests when McD's tried to build a "McD Townhouse" in the early 1970s that they withdrew the plans. I guess the new upscale crowd appreciates deep-fried grease more than the less-wealthy residents of decades past.
The other proposition they managed to protest out of existence was a methadone dispensary. Maybe that's the next big thing in retail ... ?
out with Starbucks (remember 600 locations closing?) and in with DD. What does that have to tell you? What do you think is going to replace all those WAMU branches?
Hopefully something with free private bathrooms -- Charbucks' only saving grace.

it's going in the old Zen Palate space, 15th and PAS, maybe? the olive garden in chelsea bemused me, but this is just bizarre.

It bemused me too until the day I walked in to kill some time and grab a quick bite till is was time to meet a block away and saw the menu. All teh TV ads about their pricing don't apply. The pricing is the same as a 'real' Italian restaurant, but with chain flavoring.

I used to shake my head an give the example of how many Starbucks were so close together on 8th St between 2nd Ave and just West of BWay. now how many are there?

How many Chase branches were/are needed above and beyond the one's they already had in Manhattan? We were already pretty saturated. Or do we need a Chase branch on EVERY block??
